Flex Cop (Sat 09/05)
Brisbane based producer Flex Cop mixes elements of French-influenced “nu-disco” and splashes of jackin’ soul to create a truly unique electronic dance sound: One part Gui Boratto, one part Jamiroquai, with production “just so damn crisp” (Dave Ruby Howe, TripleJ Unearthed Music Director), and basslines that flex hard!
Following on from his “I Been Looking” release on Lucid Dreaming, featured on Beatport’s “Must Hear Nu Disco” Chart, that found solid club support streaming in from Maya Jane Coles, Hot Since 82, MK, Pleasurekraft, Amine Edge, Audiojack, Danny Daze, Adana Twins, Carl Cox and more, Flex Cop’s last visit showcased – the irresistible “Placebo”, a track at once both euphoric and familiar with swirls of trumpets & signature driving bass. Also featuring a stunning deep throwback remix from Beatport Top 10 Overall and OFF Recordings heavy hitters Teenage Mutants.
Beatport has named him a “must hear deep house” artist and Flex Cop lives up to that with his latest single Domino featuring the soulful vocals of Michael O. Following on from his “Shiny” EP on Sharem Jey’s Tiger Bunny label the Brisbane, Australia producer is joined by Michael O’s Marvin Gaye vocals that blends effortlessly amongst a mix of late night piano stabs, tropical percussion and Sade-inspired guitar licks.
