Dirty melancholic house music is the produce of much musical soul searching for Norwegian DJ Finnebassen. Leaving his teenage genre-hopping days behind him, 2008 saw a house music epiphany, as a deep rooted interest in electronic music began, bringing Finnebassen to the sound he relays today.

Although he has been producing music and playing gigs in his hometown of Oslo for many years, 2012 has finally seen the first attacks of Finnebassen on the worldwide electronic music scene, in both performance and production. Having stormed onto the charts with his smash hits ‘If You Only Knew’ & ‘Touching Me’, Finnebassen has taken the scene by the scruff of the neck and stomped out an endless list of beautiful melodic releases that has seen him become one of the ‘it’ acts of 2013.

Championed by everyone from Pete Tong to Maceo Plex & Solomun, it is his very own version of silky smooth deep house that has got us so excited to finally have him back in Perth. Believe the hype !!!

Darius Syrossian is a long-serving fully subscribed slave to TRUE. HOUSE. MUSIC. Since moving to the UK as a 14 year old, his fascination with electronic music has never waned having initially been infected by its futuristic lure at an underground party back in 1991. Taking formative influences from Detroit and Chicago masters like Kenny Dope, Danny Tenaglia, Derrick May, DJ Sneak and Carl Craig, a pure and unadulterated house sound has always been Darius’ pre-occupation in place of passing fads or zeitgeist defining trends.

True. House. Music. are three words that define the style and sound of Darius Syrossian, yet also represent the principles by which he has successfully made his name as a DJ, producer, label boss and radio host at a global level. He is one of the core artists of the SANKEYS family and his production skills have lead to acclaim with labels such as Get Physical, Jackathon compilation, VIVa MUSiC, Hot Creations, 8bit & many more.

In 2012 DJ MAG awarded Darius Syrossian with a nomination for ‘BEST OF BRITISH, BREAKTHROUGH PRODUCER’ – great recognition for his prolific studio work over the past few years. His star has risen inexorably in the last 12 months. Something of a folk hero in Manchester & Leeds, Darius has been bubbling under the radar for what seems nigh on an eternity but really lifting to claim this year by the horns. His residencies for Sankeys, both in Manchester and Ibiza, as well as his productions have ensured he’s been getting the props he deserves,

Darius is now Music Director, and main resident DJ for the legendary TRIBAL SESSIONS party, after doing 6 completely sell out Manchester shows, Darius takes Tribal Sessions to Ibiza in the summer of 2014 for 20 weekly parties every Wednesday at Sankeys Ibiza,

To coincide with this Darius’s debut artist album is out at the same time and features 16 completely brand new productions from himself and these were all mixed Live at Sankeys Manchester and is available on CD.

Everything Darius undertakes, from constant producing and touring to his radio show and Sankeys residency, is always done in a way which is consistent with his philosophy: to always focus on the music, to always guard the principles of house and always, but always, to remain true. In his own words: “I’m into the scene because I LOVE THE MUSIC, not like a lot of people who are into the music because they LOVE THE SCENE. It’s only about the music for me, and that’s all that matters!?”

Ruff, rugged and raw. Mentioning Marcel Dettmann as well as his feeling for and vision of electronic music, his way of dealing with it, is impossible without these attributes. Whether you take his DJ sets (Marcel has been made a resident DJ at the old Ostgut and also at Berghain from the very start), Dettmann’s productions for the self-conducted MDR label, his remixes for the likes of Fever Ray, Junior Boys, Modeselektor as well as Scuba, or if nothing else his debut long player for Ostgut Ton into account, all the various contrasts and distinctions that come with it are manifested in these qualities.

Techno as Marcel Dettmann defines it, is neither a movement without history nor wistful nostalgia. In the hands of the Berliner, the well-known game of hi-hats, bass lines and kick drums draws its tension and momentum from a historically grown tradition and the conscious decision to break the rules. Reformation and solid construction outplays the use of any gimmicks. Dettmann pours Detroit’s oil into European engines, puts British bass music under the control of Chicago’s very own Jack, cuts classics with abstract nuances and connects yesterday with tomorrow and today. In the unrelenting manner of a great DJ, he generates moods and connections that are age- and classless, but never irrelevant or tasteless. Marcel Dettmann links up the art of improvisation with careful preparation and finally gives techno some of its often painfully missed serious physical constitution back.
