Please is not a dirty word

By Geisha Bar

I have noticed something rather disturbing. Using the word “please” has gone out of fashion.

How did this happen?!

Call me old-fashioned but I do believe manners are a sign of respect, consideration and appreciation to other humans.

When I pull my peers up on it, I am met with multiple retorted reasons why “please” isn’t necessary. The resulting tone just feels self-entitled. So pathetically unattractive.

Manners start in the family home. Did a whole generation of parents suffer from amnesia? Resulting in a swarm of rude, disrespectful brats – who ignorantly shoot themselves in the foot. Who wants to deal with someone so socially clueless?

It is time for a manners renaissance. Please is not a dirty word.
