Watching the media hype of the White Pointer and seeing images of the carnage they do highlights the raw power of this great creature. Watching a documentary and seeing the frenzied blood-lust as they tear apart a whale with a jaw that slams closed with 600kg of force would make a surfer cringe. In real terms this means a white pointer will crush your feeble frame with the same ease you devour fairy floss. Now this alone is enough to keep my sloppy bag of bones out of the surf

But as Monty Python’s famous Black Knight proclaimed, “Tís but a scratch” because the salt water crocodile SLAMS it’s monstorous jaws shut at an unbelievable 7500kg of force. That’s right 7500kg of vicious bone grinding, organ crushing force -12.5 times more raw killing power than the animal that is widely considered the perfect killing machine.

Nature can be beautiful and awe inspiring but it can also be horiffic as these brutal pre-historic beasts are every nightmare come true. As the salties slowly race the cane toads down the north west coast into more heavily populated areas and great whites continue to expand their feeding zones closer to the shore as their numbers rise we have to ask who is the dominant species? We have the weapons and technology to hunt them into oblivion and sit perched atop the food chain unchallenged or we could cull numbers to manageable levels  OR we could just stop swimming by Northern Austalian brooks and riverbanks and dressing up in costume to look like seal in the surf! Surely if a chicken covered itself in 11 secret herbs and spices and decided to take a nap on your dinning table you would probably take a bite without too much thought but hey I am a vegetarian and broccoli can’t complain
